{"id":1057,"date":"2014-01-19T22:06:32","date_gmt":"2014-01-19T12:06:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pescapresents.com\/blog\/?p=1057"},"modified":"2014-01-22T16:32:52","modified_gmt":"2014-01-22T06:32:52","slug":"sunday-stash-gjs-discount-fabrics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.pescapresents.com\/blog\/2014\/01\/sunday-stash-gjs-discount-fabrics\/","title":{"rendered":"Sunday Stash &#8211; GJs Discount Fabrics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For Sunday Stash this week we have part two of my fabric buying adventures in Melbourne from a few weeks ago.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve seen <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gjsdiscountfabrics.com.au\/\" title=\"GJ's Discount Fabrics\" target=\"_blank\">GJ&#8217;s Discount Fabrics<\/a> mentioned by a few Aussie bloggers, in particular on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.redpepperquilts.com\/2013\/01\/visit-your-local-quilt-shop-day-blog.html\" title=\"Red Pepper Quilts - GJ's Discount Fabrics\" target=\"_blank\">Red Pepper Quilts<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/nicolemdesign.blogspot.com.au\/2011\/05\/my-local.html\" title=\"You Sew Girl - GJs Discount Fabrics\" target=\"_blank\">You Sew Girl<\/a> as their local quilt store, click through to their posts to see some beautiful photos of the store and their fabulous fabric range.<\/p>\n<p>The store is an easy tram trip from the CBD out north to East Brunswick, it should take about 20 minutes, unless your tram gets stuck behind another tram that breaks down, in which case it&#8217;s about 15 minutes on a tram and 20 minutes to walk the remaining 5 blocks&#8230; ask me how I know!<\/p>\n<p>I must have been seeing spots because at first I picked up these dotty fabrics, the two on the left were pre-cut fat quarters, the third from left is a bright fluro dot on a linen background that unfortunately doesn&#8217;t photograph well but trust me it&#8217;s really bright. On the right, I believe the white on teal is a birch organic cotton.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pescapresents.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/sunday-stash-gjs-1.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[1057]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pescapresents.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/sunday-stash-gjs-1-600x399.jpg\" alt=\"Polka dot fabric in blues and oranges\" width=\"600\" height=\"399\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-1058 single-img\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.pescapresents.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/sunday-stash-gjs-1-600x399.jpg 600w, http:\/\/www.pescapresents.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/sunday-stash-gjs-1-295x196.jpg 295w, http:\/\/www.pescapresents.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/sunday-stash-gjs-1.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"caption wp-caption-text\">Spots and dots in blues and oranges.<\/p>\n<p>Not only do they have a great range of quilting cottons, including a wall of Kona cottons and a tonne of basics like spots and stripes, there&#8217;s a whole other floor of dance &#038; costume fabrics. Lycra and sequins and glitter.. oh my! I was very disciplined however and went back downstairs without anything shiny.<\/p>\n<p>Right by the cutting counter I spied some sneaky raccoons looking out at me, I&#8217;ve had my eye on those raccoons for some time so grabbed half a meter each of that and a complementary Humming Bird print. These are destined for a purse\/wallet\/bag type thing (when I finally decide which one).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pescapresents.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/sunday-stash-gjs-2.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[1057]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pescapresents.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/sunday-stash-gjs-2-600x399.jpg\" alt=\"Tula Pink Acacia Fabrics - Racoon &amp; Humming Bird\" width=\"600\" height=\"399\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-1059 single-img\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.pescapresents.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/sunday-stash-gjs-2-600x399.jpg 600w, http:\/\/www.pescapresents.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/sunday-stash-gjs-2-295x196.jpg 295w, http:\/\/www.pescapresents.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/sunday-stash-gjs-2.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"caption wp-caption-text\">From Tula Pink&#8217;s Acacia range &#8211; Humming Bird in Dusk, Raccoon in Blueberry.<\/p>\n<p>The sooner I get a few more WIPs out of the way, the sooner I get the play with these gorgeous additions to my stash.
