{"id":892,"date":"2013-09-09T21:45:10","date_gmt":"2013-09-09T11:45:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pescapresents.com\/blog\/?p=892"},"modified":"2014-01-22T16:34:33","modified_gmt":"2014-01-22T06:34:33","slug":"sydney-quilt-craft-fair-2013-part-2-the-loot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.pescapresents.com\/blog\/2013\/09\/sydney-quilt-craft-fair-2013-part-2-the-loot\/","title":{"rendered":"Sydney Quilt &#038; Craft Fair 2013 &#8211; Part 2: The Loot"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>If you don&#8217;t know about the Sydney Craft &#038; Quilt Fair, go check out my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pescapresents.com\/blog\/2013\/06\/sydney-quilt-craft-fair-2013-part-1-the-show\/\" title=\"Sydney Quilt &#038; Craft Fair 2013 \u2013 Part 1: The Show\">previous post<\/a>, where I share how my interest and experience has changed over the last 4 years.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On top of the gorgeous quilts and great workshops &#038; seminars, there are aisles and aisles and aisles of stalls selling just about everything for sewing, quilting, knitting &#038; crochet, card marking, scrapbooking, beading and other crafty things, you&#8217;ll also find a lot of amazing gadgets and products you never knew existed.<\/p>\n<p>Before heading to the show I put together a list of the things I was looking for and did a bit of research on some options before hand so that I was prepared. Included on the list were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A good desk lamp for my new sewing area<\/li>\n<li>Creative Grids 18 degree wedge &#038; 60 degree triangle rulers, recommended in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.craftsy.com\/class\/big-techniques-from-small-scraps\/181\" title=\"Big Techniques from Small Scraps with Sarah Fielke\" target=\"_blank\">Sarah Fielke&#8217;s Craftsy class<\/a><\/li>\n<li>A supreme slider &#038; new quilting gloves<\/li>\n<li>Some perle 8 cotton in pretty colours<\/li>\n<li>Some mini scissors &#038; another thimble since I&#8217;ve lost mine somewhere&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It was a great show and very successful for me, I found almost everything I was after and of course, a few things not on the list as well. I didn&#8217;t manage to find the rulers, but did find a vendor and have since bought them online.<\/p>\n<p>On to the loot! How pretty are these Perle 8 Cottons?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pescapresents.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/craft-quilt-show-2013-loot-2.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[892]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pescapresents.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/craft-quilt-show-2013-loot-2-600x300.jpg\" alt=\"Perle Cotton\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" class=\"single-img\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"caption wp-caption-text\">Perle Cottons by Valdani (top row) and Presencia (bottom row).<\/p>\n<p>I got a great deal on the lamp from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.daylightman.com.au\/\" title=\"Daylight Man\" target=\"_blank\">Daylight Man<\/a> stand, it&#8217;s perfect for my new sewing space (more on that soon). It&#8217;s a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.daylightman.com.au\/online-shop\/lighting-a-magnifiers\/table-lamps\/lighting-magnifiers\/table-lamps\/slimline-table-lamp-chrome-a32107.html\" title=\"Daylight Slimline Table Lamp from Daylight Man\" target=\"_blank\">Daylight Slimline Table Lamp<\/a> which clamps on to the back of my table and has a flexible arm so I can get it wherever I need it. It uses an energy efficient daylight bulb which is great for colour matching, easier on the eyes than normal lights and the bulb will last for ages. I love it so far and the difference in colour between the lamp and other lights is amazing.<\/p>\n<p>I may have also found some fabric I just <em>had<\/em> to have from Material Obsession &#8211; an Alexander Henry print, Atzlen, from the same line as my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pescapresents.com\/blog\/2012\/12\/my-first-quilt-part-6-finished-finally\/\" title=\"My First Quilt \u2013 Part 6: Finished! Finally.\">first quilt back<\/a> which I&#8217;ll be using to back the brother of my quilt.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pescapresents.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/craft-quilt-show-2013-loot-1.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[892]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pescapresents.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/craft-quilt-show-2013-loot-1-600x399.jpg\" alt=\"Alexander Henry - Atzlen &amp; Fiesta Firecracker\" width=\"600\" height=\"399\" class=\"single-img\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"caption wp-caption-text\">Alexander Henry fabrics &#8211; Fiesta Firecracker as my quilt back (bottom) and Atzlen (top) for the back of another quilt to come.<\/p>\n<p>Another favourite vendor is Kelani Fabric, every year they have amazing fabrics and patterns, this time I picked up some Echino bicycles, I&#8217;ve already used a piece of the green in a cushion back. It&#8217;s always lovely to chat to <a href=\"http:\/\/saffroncraig.com\/\" title=\"Saffron Craig\" target=\"_blank\">Saffron Craig<\/a> at her stall and I can never resist her fabrics.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pescapresents.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/craft-quilt-show-2013-loot-3.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[892]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pescapresents.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/craft-quilt-show-2013-loot-3-295x196.jpg\" alt=\"Echino Nico Cycling\" width=\"295\" height=\"196\" class=\"double-img left\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pescapresents.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/craft-quilt-show-2013-loot-4.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[892]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pescapresents.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/craft-quilt-show-2013-loot-4-295x196.jpg\" alt=\"Saffron Craig - Valley View\" width=\"295\" height=\"196\" class=\"double-img\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"caption wp-caption-text\">Left: Echino Nico Cycling in Chocolate, Fuscia and Green. Right: Valley View by Saffron Craig<\/p>\n<p>I got a couple little presents for friends and decided to get a decent mini iron &#038; rest. I have a cheap mini iron which is super handy, but it has a collapsing handle which is really annoying and it doesn&#8217;t get all that hot, but I know I&#8217;ll use it so figure it&#8217;s worth getting a decent one, especially since there won&#8217;t really be room for a full ironing board &#038; big iron where I&#8217;ll be sewing from now on.<\/p>\n<p> By far my favourite not-on-the-list finds was some awesome washi tape.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pescapresents.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/craft-quilt-show-2013-loot-5.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[892]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pescapresents.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/craft-quilt-show-2013-loot-5-600x600.jpg\" alt=\"Washi Tape\" width=\"600\" height=\"600\" class=\"single-img\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"caption wp-caption-text\">Super cute washi tape!<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s it for another year of the Quilt &#038; Craft Show.
